Melissa Hernandez

 I have always been eccentric and artistic for as long as I can remember. Art was always my favorite class. In high school I took courses for Graphic Design and began freelancing. It all came natural and I loved every second of it. I later attended the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale for knowledge in the Media Design and Animation field.  I also read a book when I was young, called "The Illustrated Man" which opened my eyes to the world of tattoos. 

 I use many different mediums, such as clay, pencil, oil and acrylic paint, resin, ink, and the list goes on. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. I've always had an interest in all fields of art. I started with drawing, painting, and sculpting...then I moved on to the more technical side of things creating images, designs, and photo manipulation via computer. I went from making flyers for small clubs to making business cards for corporate businesses. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.  

 I am fascinated by color manipulation. I love animals, nature, creepy things, the strange and unusual, and anything out of the norm. Many of my pieces are directly influenced by these passions. I have also spent a lot of my free time hanging out at tattoo shops just to watch the artists and their techniques. For now I continue my journey as an aspiring artist learning new skills every chance I get.
